The Notice for Imported Consignments

Proactive Redirect

In order to improve the delivery efficiency of B2C items imported from overseas and allow cross-border online shoppers to receive items earlier, DHL Express is going to launch Proactive Redirection if the recipient is not at home, in addition to the original door-to-door delivery service. Making use of the self-collection locker network (with more than 1,300 locations in total from DHL Locker, Chunghwa Post iBox, and Palm Box) with the best coverage in Taiwan, the imported B2C items will now be automatically redirected to a collection point nearest to the recipient who can then collect it at his/her convenience e.g. after work or on the way home. This redirecting service for B2C imported items is activated automatically in the event that the recipient is not at home. By making use of its advanced IT system, DHL will inform the recipient of the item’s location, the password for retrieval and other relevant information via text message. If the recipient would like DHL to redeliver the item or send it to another location, it can be easily customized through DHL’s “On Demand Delivery” system after keying in the bill of lading number. Providing service from the heart, DHL Express is your best choice when it comes to cross-border shopping.

TW importer real name authentication

Taiwan Customs have announced to trial on verify the authenticity of the names of importers during the import clearance process. The announcement can be found hereExternal Link. Please note that this verification will only apply to low value Business-to-Consumer (B2C) shipments i.e. CIF value NTD50,000 (USD1,666) and below. Business-to-Business (B2B) shipments are excluded.

Customs system will start to check importers telephone or ID# from 21st, September, 2018, and will check for low value dutiable shipment only (NTD2,000 < CIF value <= NTD 50,000). Importers can start to register his information now, more information can be found hereExternal Link.  B2C shipments whose importers are not registered may experience higher inspection rate on import, hence subjected to potential delays.

During this trial period, Customs will keep the minimum impacts to all imports. The go-live plans have yet to be shared by Customs.

Please ensure the following in order to prevent unnecessary delays:
a) Ensure that shippers input consignee’s local phone numbers (prefer mobile phone number) for their shipments to Taiwan;
b) Inform your shippers to Taiwan to communicate to their importers to register in Taiwan as soon as possible;

More updates will be provided as information is obtained. If a local phone number cannot be provided, the shipment will possibly be on hold and pending additional information obtained by the local DHL Taiwan team from the Consignee.
