DHL provides next-day delivery to India
New direct service increases customer competitiveness by reducing time to market
DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, announced today that customers will now be able to send their goods even faster from Taiwan and New Delhi, India. From the previous two-day delivery to a next-day delivery service now, DHL has the fastest delivery service among all express service providers in Taiwan, allowing customers to take advantage of the vast and growing business opportunities in India.
Connie Tang, General Manager DHL Express Taiwan, said: “With steadily increasing volumes between Taiwan and India, DHL has decided to switch to a direct flight arrangement for faster delivery time, so that our clients can gain from the benefits it brings.”
Ms Tang noted that outbound parcels and documents from Taiwan were previously flown to India via DHL’s Central Asia Hub in Hong Kong. With the new direct service to New Delhi, clients can have their packages delivered the next day.
Multinational corporations, including many Taiwanese companies, have invested significantly in India, leveraging the lower cost of labour and the country’s expertise in the field of information technology. Aside from India’s crucial role as an important global subcontractor within the framework of the international division of labour, its fast growing population represents a potentially large domestic consumer market.
Ms Tang added: “China and India are two of DHL’s fastest growing markets in the Asia Pacific region. DHL is currently expanding its network infrastructure in both places.”
According to Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade, total trade volume between Taiwan and India grew by 25 percent in 2005, while exports from Taiwan to India grew by 46 percent. This year’s numbers are expected to follow the same trend.
As a trade facilitator, DHL is excited by the increasing trade volume, which translates into a growing demand for express and logistics services. In addition, according to research by DHL, the fastest growing trades between Taiwan and India are the electronics and chemical industries, while finance and textile are close behind.
