2007 Taiwan Business Awards Open for Applications

“Surpass and Pinnacle” Calls for Taiwan Enterprises to Aspire Beyond the Summit

The fifth Taiwan Business Awards are now open forapplications. Huang Chao-song, the Awards Chairman and Executive Director of the Board of the China Times Group, and Stuart Whiting, the Awards Vice Chairman and General Manager of DHL Express Taiwan, unveiled this year's theme as “Surpass and Pinnacle” – in a call for Taiwan enterprises to aspire beyond the summit.
Chairman Huang said since the inception of the Taiwan Business Awards four years ago, the Awards have grown in influence and stature among Taiwan's entrepreneurs and enterprises. This year, the organizers will honor individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations that embody the spirit of “Surpass and Pinnacle” and aspire to excel their current operations and limitations, amid uncertainties in the Taiwan economy.
Huang added, tracing the history of Taiwan's economic development from agriculture to import substitution, export processing, to the upgrade of traditional industries to technology industries, each stage of development had its limits, and only by surpassing those limits could companies continue to grow and reach new summits.
Vice Chairman Whiting said the previous four Taiwan Business Awards honored 30 outstanding entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations and enterprises, whose contributions to Taiwan's economy and society distinguished them as role models for their peers. At the same time, the Taiwan Business Awards grew in stature to become the most highly regarded business awards in Taiwan.
Whiting said, “While we hope to pay tribute to Taiwan's outstanding enterprises and entrepreneurs for their contributions to Taiwan's economic and social development, we also cordially invite non-profit organizations that have raised social value and the well-being of its citizens to respond to our call for applications. Together, we can showcase their outstanding performances in witness to the extraordinary resilience of Taiwan's economy.”
The fifth Taiwan Business Awards are organized by China Times and DHL Taiwan. Legally registered local companies, as well as Taiwan-based foreign firms, are qualified to apply for all eight awards. Institutional organizations such as state enterprises, non-profit organizations, and foundations may apply as candidates for “Outstanding Management Award” and the non-profit organization category of the “Best Social Contribution Award”.
The organizers China Times and DHL Taiwan are extending their call for applications to individuals, corporations, and organizations that recognize their own achievements and beliefs, and hope more corporations and outstanding individuals can participate in sharing their successful experiences.
Nominations for the fifth Taiwan Business Awards will be accepted from now until June 30, 2007. Applicants can apply themselves or be nominated by Taiwan residents. The judging process will start from August until October 2007. Winners will be announced in November 2007.
