DHL sponsors medical aide program in Mongolia by providing delivery and logistics services
Ensuring the Taipei International Medical Assistance Team has immediate access to logistics support
DHL, the world’s leading brand in express and logistics services, is once again volunteering its resources and facilities for a charitable cause. In its sponsorship of the Taipei International Medical Team’s aide tour in Mongolia, DHL has volunteered its logistics network for the delivery of 37 cartons, or 550 kg, of medical supplies to Mongolia, in an effort to ensure that the medical team enjoys an abundance of resources and sufficient material support during their aide program.
DHL Express Taiwan Sales Director, Michael Hsu, said that the company has always demonstrated its long-term commitment in charity and has been a benefactor of many good causes. This year, DHL has encouraged 1,500 employees to sign up for the company’s “Volunteer Day”, a campaign that raised a fund of TWD 500,000 and over 4, 000 pieces of various educational materials for the education of children in homes and orphanages in Taiwan. Moreover, as part of the company’s endeavor to give back to the community, DHL has been sponsoring Taiwan’s participation in international baseball championships in recent years, by providing logistics services to Taiwan’s baseball teams. DHL’s latest participation in this medical aide program hosted by the Taipei Municipal Government further witnesses the company’s dedication to the society
Since 2004, Taipei City United Hospital has been carrying out medical aide programs in Mongolia. So far, around 5,000 Mongolian patients have been treated by its doctors under the scheme. In order to continue the good work, Taipei International Medical Team, an organization under the Municipal Government, is scheduled to set off again for Mongolia on September 8. The purpose of this trip is to bring further medical assistance and supplies to the Mongolian public, in order to fulfill the team’s pledge of help and relief to those in need
DHL is honored to be entrusted with the task of delivery for this medical aide program, added Michael Hsu, as this not only is an opportunity for DHL to once again demonstrate its values and commitment in corporate social responsibility, but also an opportunity for DHL to establish its role as a bridge that connects the two nations, via facilitating the exchange and flow of medical resources. This latter is particularly meaningful for DHL, an international express service provider
In its effort to assist in this project, DHL has appointed a specialist logistics team of X staff, designated for the task of effectively transporting and delivering the 550 kg medical equipments and medicines to Mongolia before August 31.
